Lechuza · AI video analytics
NewYour cameras are already there. Now they alert you.
Lechuza doesn't sell cameras or record video: it gives you data about your operation and messages you on WhatsApp when something important happens. A small device is installed on site, and from day one you get reports and alerts.
- Who it's for
- Retail and franchises, warehouses and plants, yards and gates, fleets, mining and public-facing offices.

The problem
What happens today
There are cameras, but nobody watches them
Hours of footage that only get reviewed after something has happened.
No numbers about the operation
How many people come in, when, and how long they wait: nobody has the data.
You find out too late
Someone in the warehouse at night or a truck stuck at the gate is discovered the next day.
Features
What Lechuza does
Line counting
How many people or vehicles cross a door or gate, and in which direction.
lechuza-line · 1600×900Zones and dwell time
How many people are in a zone and how long they stay (checkout, counter, restricted area), with an alert when occupancy is exceeded.
lechuza-dwell · 1600×900After-hours presence
An alert when someone is where they shouldn't be, based on each site's schedule.
lechuza-live · 1600×900Lines and zones you draw yourself
On each camera's live image you draw a line with two clicks or a zone with the mouse, with its dwell time and whether it counts people or vehicles. A 7-day heat map shows which areas are actually used. If you rearrange the store, moving a zone takes two minutes.
Instant alerts
Via WhatsApp, email, phone notification or integration with your system, with a snapshot of the moment cropped to the zone. Acknowledged by replying "1" on WhatsApp.
lechuza-alerts · 1600×1000Excel reports
Hourly occupancy with the period's peak, daily entries, dwell time per zone (median and p90) and site comparison against the network average.
lechuza-reports · 1600×1000Many sites, one dashboard
Live view with every person and vehicle marked (nothing is recorded), and users by role (admin, supervisor, read-only) and by site.
lechuza-home · 1600×1000On your phone
The dashboard installs as an app on your phone, without going through an app store, and sends notifications. The manager checks occupancy, handles alerts and watches a live camera from the phone.
How it works
Your cameras
Any brand of IP camera with RTSP, or a channel from your NVR/DVR.
On-site device
A mini PC analyzes the video with AI. Video never leaves the site.
Only events go to the cloud
Just events and small snapshots. If the internet drops, analysis continues and syncs later.
Dashboard and alerts
A web dashboard on desktop or phone, plus alerts via WhatsApp, email or webhook.
Events it can detect
| Event | Example | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Line crossing with direction (in / out) | Count people entering a store or vehicles passing a gate | In production |
| Zone entry | Someone enters the warehouse or a restricted area | In production |
| Zone exit | Record how long each person spent at the counter | In production |
| Dwell time of N seconds or more | Long wait at checkout; vehicle stopped more than 15 min at the dock | In production |
| After-hours presence | Someone in the plant at night or on a weekend | In production |
| Two objects together in the same zone | Person and forklift in the same area | In production |
| Zone occupancy | "Alert me if there are more than 20 people in the store" | In production |
| Camera offline or device disconnected | Alert if someone covers or unplugs a camera | In production |
| Object type | People, cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles and more; chosen per camera | In production |
| PPE (hard hat, vest, boots) | Safety compliance on site | Custom |
| Driver: drowsiness, distraction, phone use, yawning, covered camera | Truck fleets | Pilot program |
Traditional CCTV vs. Lechuza
| NVR or traditional CCTV | Lechuza | |
|---|---|---|
| Cameras | Often requires new cameras of the same brand | Uses the IP cameras you already have, any brand |
| What you get | Hours of footage nobody watches | Numbers, reports and real-time alerts |
| Privacy | Records everything | No continuous recording, no facial recognition, no license plate reading; only stores snapshots of events that trigger alerts |
| Bandwidth | Uploading video uses a lot | Video is analyzed on site; only events and small snapshots go online |
| If the internet drops | Remote view is lost | The device keeps analyzing and sends everything when it's back |
| Multiple sites | One system per site | All sites in one dashboard, with comparisons |
| Alerts | Someone has to be watching | WhatsApp, email or integration, with a snapshot |
What you need
Cameras
Any brand of IP camera with RTSP (Hikvision, Dahua, Tapo and most others), or an NVR/DVR that exposes each channel via RTSP. Placement matters: a camera that doesn't see the door head-on or from above will miscount.
One device per site
A mini PC installed on site, sized to the number of cameras.
Internet
Any internet connection (basic DSL or 4G is enough). No static IP or open ports required. A UPS is recommended.
Keep your recorder
No need to remove your NVR or DVR: it keeps recording as usual while Lechuza reads the video in parallel.
Not supported: analog cameras without a recorder, DVRs without RTSP, or cameras that only work through a cloud app.
Privacy by design
- No facial recognition and no identification of individuals.
- No license plate reading.
- No continuous recording: only a snapshot of each alert is kept for 30 days.
- Each client's data is isolated and visible only to the users the client invites.
- Designed to comply with Argentina's Personal Data Protection Law (Law 25,326).
For fleets: driver monitoring
With an infrared camera in the cab it measures drowsiness, fatigue, distraction, phone use, yawning and an empty seat or covered camera in real time. An in-cab alarm sounds even without signal, and the alert reaches the base when the connection returns. Drivers are identified by vehicle assignment, never by their face.
Join the pilotHow deployment works
Assessment: what you want to measure, how many cameras and where, network and internet, schedules and who gets alerted.
Your organization is set up and your admin receives an email invitation.
The device is installed on site and activated with a one-time code or QR, without touching the router.
Cameras are added to the dashboard and the connection is tested.
Lines and zones are drawn on each camera's real image.
Rules and alerts: what triggers an alert, when, and who receives it.
Handover: testing with real people walking through, inviting the rest of your users and walking through the reports.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to replace my cameras?
No, as long as they're IP cameras with RTSP or connected to an NVR/DVR that exposes RTSP per channel. We check during the assessment.
Does it record my employees?
No video is recorded. Only a snapshot of each alert is kept, for 30 days.
Does it recognize faces?
No, and it won't: it counts and measures, it doesn't identify.
What if the internet goes down?
The device keeps working and sends everything when the connection is back.
How much bandwidth does it use?
Very little: video stays on site, only events and small snapshots are sent.
Who can see the data?
Only the users you invite, each with their own role and sites. Each client's data is isolated.
Can I connect it to my system?
Yes, via signed webhooks; for fleets there's an API with your own keys.
How accurate is it?
It depends on camera placement. We measure it at your site before go-live.
I already have a camera system
Lechuza doesn't replace it, it builds on it. You keep recording with what you have and add data and alerts.
